Starbound has competitive dance teams! Starbound’s Company Program participates in several local dance competitions. Company members also perform at community events in Rockdale and Newton areas. Company members are selected through a tryout process that takes place each year.
For us competition is an education. We consider participation in competitions not simply part of our student’s training as dancers; it’s also an important part of how we influence them as people. With the right focus, the experience gained in competition can be an excellent source of self-confidence. Starbound's Company Team Members get a better understanding of commitment by offering them the chance to learn, experience the spirit of teamwork, and understand what hard work can accomplish.

Each year one of our company members is selected for the Lola Marie Vanstone Scholarship. This honor is awarded to the dancer we feel is dedicated, determined, works hard, keeps a good attitude in and out of class and has star qualities throughout the dance season.
